This made my life a bit easier . Rather than going gaga about high end brands, I search for natural fiber clothing in regular stores. That's going one step closer to sustainable lifestyle. To start with departmental store shopping.  Walmart is the best place to find all the undergarments with are 100% cotton underwear from Hanes & fruit and loom are the best. Privilege of being a Mom : Postpartum care

Welcome to motherhood.
Being first time mom is really " " . Can't put in a word to it.Its different for different people.
I feel happy and enjoying only when I celebrated my kids 1st birthday so it took a year for me to sink in.Lets fill in those quotes with different mommy experiences after delivery and their postpartum stage of initial 0-6 months.
Vulnerable and depressed
Could not handle recovery.Due to tear of natural birth and non medicated.Emotionally shaken as its all new , became a zombie .though got  help.
 Emotionally most needed this time was hugs and all the love to be given to the mother from family. Grand mom plays a important role in supporting her daughter( new mom) and taking good care of her and spouse takes care of the baby.Pick up the phone and call the people whom you reply on, any time of the day.Don't hesitate you need then.Sleep when ever and where ever if u r sleepy.
 Physically 4th degree tear needs long soaks in the warm tub with baking powder or silts bath sachets.
Mix eucalyptus oil in Luke warm water and splash it on the healing tear before stepping out of bath.
Tucks are most important.
Do not hesitate to take pain killer for initial 10-15 days, remember if you don't recover soon you can't help the little one soon.
 Saggy tummy, how ever you feel remember this,feeling(emotions) and body are different ,so  make effort tie a belt or do long cloth wraps on both upper and lower tummy
.After 3/5 day
  • start applying oregano seed (waamu/ajwain)powder and turmeric mixture to the whole of your belly.It heals the inside and outside of the tummy and uterus quickly. A pinch of this mix can be eaten after every meal too.
  • Please  step  out of the house at least for 15-20 minutes a day.This is what is most important and it helps a lot for the new mom to connect with the nature.
  •  Try to eat fresh food as much as possible.Less spice/hot.Soft easily digest able foods.
  • Garlic- boiled /roasted.
  • Soak methi fenugreek seeds and drink the water.
  • Shitavari kalpa granules.
  • fennel tea and ginger tea .
  • milk with almond powder-badam,anjeer(fig) mixture. Soak nuts and make milk
  • Cook food with sesame oil.
Tired but managing
This is the better state and also bad state. you con't get complete help neither can you handle everything completely.I have seen most of my friends and other mothers in this state for initial few months.I came into here after 5 months.By this time i figured how to breastfeed the baby,tough was not capable to make her sleep always.Give her bath ,play with the baby and take my naps when ever possible.This is when i tried to go back to eating my regular food and trying to take regular walks.Me turning into vegetarian really helped.So i continued . Ate lot of greens and drank juices as i was always hungry.I still wore the tummy tucker belt as saggy lower tummy was prominent now.This is the best time to start getting back to shape if you have energy to walk or exercise as breastfeeding makes you burn the fat off. The dad never understood whats going on with me, he was there only to play with the baby and try to make her sleep during nap time.I had to fight this mind battle all by myself and get back on my own.This is when i got into yoga and it healed me emotionally ,physically and gave me all the strength.I was becoming more and more strong now.
Finally understood motherhood
When i saw the baby smile at me, move towards me,respond.Almost recognize me and smile back.I felt like a mother.I know it took me 6 months to battle this.Finally the aha movement was here.
I got my hair short, put my running shoes, placed my baby in stroller and ran to the park and enjoyed being out with her making her smile with leaves,grass,wind...
MOM
As time passed i got lost in my kids routine.Bath time,naps,solid food introduction,milk bottles,park time,clean up time etc etc. Then the Kid turned 1 year and you just became THE MOM .
Planned the party,cake fed sugar high baby screaming, and you running behind her....
....... here starts the real mother journey....
